About The Event

The Mewati–Swati Khayal Festival celebrates a distinctive musical confluence, bringing together the rich lineage of the Mewati Gharana and the compositional heritage of Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Rama Varma of Travancore.

Organised by Pandit Motiram Narayan Sangeet Gurukul as part of the 30th Gurupoornima Mahotsav, KHAYAL FEST 2026 marks three decades of the Gurukul's contribution to Hindustani classical music in Kerala. The festival seeks to preserve and promote India's classical music heritage, create meaningful opportunities for accomplished and emerging artists, and bring wider audiences closer to the depth and diversity of Indian classical music.
